Talk to me
Thanks for the opportunity to share my story with you.
I was born and raised in Southern California, which explains a lot about me to start with. But I have had a desire to draw ever since I can remember. I took all the art classes I could find all the way through high school. In High school at Garden Grove Union High was where I really settled the question about wanting to be a full time artist someday. I credit a great deal to my art teacher for 3 years.
I spent time at other Jr colleges and colleges studying art, I also studied Commercial Art from the "Famous Artist School".
After time in the Army and many different jobs, my life changed, or I should say, the Lord changed my life. I went back to college and seminary and prepared for the ministry. I was in the ministry as a pastor for several years in Sacramento, Montana and Oregon and was for many years a marriage counselor. My training & experiences have helped my art to a great extent for it taught me how to see beyond the obvious, to read between the lines so to speak. Just as with the art of listening, so it is with seeing. There is so much more to what you first see than one can imagine. It brought a new excitement to my work as well as my life.
Now a full time artist and Sculptor, I enjoy God's world of creation, the animals, especially birds. I love to spend time in the mountains around me and just sit in the woods and listen to all the animals and birds. I like to sketch and paint on location when possible. Everything I see or hear is a possible painting, a carving or piece of poetry.
I am married to my wife Cheryl and have 5 children and 13 Grand children.
