"Kestrel On Teasel"

Here in Brownsville OR, Kestrel's are everywhere. Mostly I see them as I travel through the farm areas.
They are on the telephone lines and from a distance look like a slightly larger bird. But up close, they are extremely beautiful.
They are commonly known as the "Sparrow Hawk"
I have had them dive into my feeders that hang in the old flowering cherry tree here at home. The Canadian Thistle, or Teasel, are unfortunately all too common and can be a plague to the farmers. However when dried are very useful in flower arrangements. They are tall and can reach 7-8' in height and very strong. It is the perfect perch for an American Kestrel waiting to pounce on a mouse.
